Our IP comes from the entire MRC scientific base, with a total annual investment of US$500m/GBP£290m. Technologies that have been invented by MRC scientists include DNA sequencing and monoclonal antibodies.

Your company can take advantage of our intellectual property via exclusive or non-exclusive licensing, or through collaboration, often with direct access to the inventor. We have numerous licences available in areas such as platform technologies, devices, drug targets and biomarkers, across a wide range of therapeutic areas.

Typically, the financial terms of a licence from MRC could include an up-front payment, milestones or annual payments and royalties on product sales. However, there are many other deal structures and variations, for example, taking equity in a company. We have a flexible and creative approach to deal making with the objective of getting MRC’s science used to benefit patients.

We have a long and successful history of collaborating with commercial research organisations.

We file of the order of 20 to 30 patents per year and non-confidential summaries of these inventions are quickly put onto this site if they are available for licensing. In addition, we will usually directly approach companies that, through our research, we believe might be interested in our technologies.
