OPT used in research to measure changes in tumour volume
3 April 2012
Researchers at the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Research Unit have used OPT imaging to measure changes in tumour volume in ER+ breast tumours. They have published a paper entitled "Determining tamoxifen sensitivity using primary breast cancer tissue in collagen-based three-dimensional culture" in Biomaterials journal.
OPT (optical projection tomography) is a 3d imaging technique invented by Dr James Sharpe at the MRC Human Genetics Unit, and has been further developed by MRC Technology's Centre for Lifescience Technologies.
